Trader Sam’s, the Awesome BadAss Bastard Child of The Tiki Room

So after many failed missions to go to the famed Trader Sam’s the interactive Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel, where certain drinks allegedly made bar stools go down and Volcanoes erupt, my friends and I finally checked it out last week. Giselle, Quintein and I marveled at the ambiance of the place. It IS like a disneyland attraction but a BAR at the same time- Very much like the bad-ass child of the Tiki-Room. Trader Sam’s is also filled with many gifts and letters from friends such as Indiana Jones and one Captain Jack Sparrow.

While Quintein and I looked through the awesome island themed drinks, Giselle announced she was going to order a secret drink! THE NEVERLAND TEA!!!! Which if I had an android phone at the time I would’ve hopped right on the internet to look up the secret menu. I resolved to check it out as soon as I had a chance.

That night Quintein and I ordered the Uh-Oa! drink which came in a bowl set ABLAZE, the bar went dark, a volcano started to erupt as everyone joined in the “Uh-Oa!” chant while Quintein and I tossed nutmeg into the flames to make FIREWORKS!! Oh and it started raining in the bar.

That drink was so awesome, IT SET FIRE TO THE RAIN

After that visit, Quintein and I looked up a Trader Sam’s secret menu on google only to find NOTHING. So on our next trip to Trader Sam’s we asked about the secret menu only to be told there wasn’t one. Our bartender said they did, however, make old drinks from the “Lost Bar” menu. (Trader Sam’s used to be the Lost Bar) which explained the Neverland tea. BUT- after googling “Lost Bar menu” I found a thread where my fellow mice-chatters (Mice-age is the best source for Disney/Disney Park geeks like me for all the deets of everything) discussed their fave drinks ONLY TO DISCOVER DRINKS THAT WERENT ON THE MENU BUT YOU COULD ORDER!!!! Like the NUMBER ONE DRINK I now wanna try, which kicks off the list of drinks to try at Trader Sam’s.

  • THE BLACK PEARL- Seriously? This exists? Jack Sparrow fans I know will want this.
  • The Neverland Tea- Giselle Had it, I took a sip or two. I don’t remember what’s in it but I remember it looking like Pixie dust in a glass.
  • Green tea drink
  • Pina CoolLava
  • Glo-Tini-  They DO have it!
  • Kungaloosh! They’ll ask you if you want “New Kungaloosh” or “Old Kungaloosh” and you tell them you want the OLD one.
  • Royal Hawaiian ( but only if Kevin is working apparently)
  • Red nosed zebra
  • Scooby Snack (old off menu from lost bar, avail at Uva at Downtown Disney if not at TS)

Thats it for now,  since my friends & I are  bound to be a regulars there I will add more drinks, hopefully there are more themed ones!

Wicked Phoenix over and out.
