After a long hiatus, White Collar is back with an explosive mid-season premiere! “Family Business” airs on Tuesday, January 22nd. Check out the trailer below and read on to get a sneak peek of what’s in store!
White Collar fans are no strangers to cliffhangers, and the finale back in September literally ended mid-conversation. To be fair, I don’t think many people were TOO shocked with the discovery that Sam is Neal’s father — I honestly thought the “twist” was going to be that Sam isn’t Neal’s father, because the show is usually a lot more subtle with its hints. Despite the less-than-shocking reveal, however, the mid-season premiere does a great job of not wasting any time in resolving the issue.
For three seasons, Neal Caffrey’s past has been shrouded in mystery. It’s only in the last season that we’ve started to see glimpses of Neal’s childhood, and even those have been few and far between. If you’re worried that revealing Neal’s father will take anything away from his character’s intrigue, you can lay your fears to rest! While “Family Business” definitely fills in a lot of blanks in Neal’s past, there’s still a lot left to discover.
Neal and Peter’s relationship has often been described as having a father-son dynamic, so it’s very interesting to see how Neal interacts with his actual father. If you’re expecting Neal to dig out an old baseball mitt and play catch with his long lost dad, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Neal is not one who trusts easily, and considering “Sam” has been lying to Neal this entire time, it’s not exactly a good first impression.
Meanwhile, Neal is determined to bring the man responsible for Ellen’s death to justice. (Guest star Scott Evans, aka Captain America’s brother!) We’ve already seen how driven Neal can be when it comes to getting revenge, but four seasons in, it’s clear that Neal no longer has just himself to worry about. In this one episode, you see just how much Neal cares for Peter and El and Mozzie, as well as Jones and Diana. And now that he has his father to think about, too, Neal is no longer on his own.
→ “Of course your resume includes whiskey counterfeiting.”
→ It’s official: Neal can’t forge anything without taking off his shirt first.
→ “Neal Caffrey hung over. Didn’t think it was possible.”
→ Elizabeth Burke goes undercover and saves a sting like the HBIC she is.
→ “What did the Suit want?” “He invited me to dinner.” “How dare he.”
→ Mozzie reveals yet another hidden (and ridiculously obscure) talent.
