Cosplay: Cassandra Cain’s Batgirl
During Wondercon 2013, I wore one of my dream costumes. Ever since I saw Cassandra Cain’s Batgirl designs, I fell hardcore in love with the idea of cosplaying the character. About a year ago, I met Lauren of Castle Corsetry at a SUPER*MARKET event in Meltdown Comics and I was excited to see her work in person. I asked her if she would be interested if I commissioned Batgirl from her and she agreed! She made this amazing suit with the cape, the utility belt and even the gloves to match. For the cowl and guantlets, fellow cosplayer and friend, Anne Marie, recommended SoloRoboto Industries.

I felt like a total badass in this costume — although I avoided any real crime fighting in Anaheim (or did I?!). I highly recommend both Castle Corsetry and SoloRoboto for your costuming needs.
I had a lot of fun at the convention too and I remembered why I was such an avid cosplayer back in my heyday. Maybe it’s time for a comeback . . . I wonder if Lauren will make me a Robin costume next? ;)
