When the Lady Geeks Took Over Paris
If you couldn’t tell from our past few podcast episodes, they allowed us — the Space Pirate Queen, Gizzy B and Pilbeam — to roam free around Paris, France for a few days. Just thought I’d share some of our photos in the city with you guys from the trip. It’s rare that all three of us get to go on an international trip together, after all!
We did Tourism with a Capital ‘T’!
Ahh, the Louvre. It’s one of the most amazing, if not THE most amazing, museum in the world! We stopped by on our first day just to take photos outside but we didn’t actually go inside until much later in the week of our trip. I was sick that day, but I did manage to say hello to my girl (boy?), the Mona Lisa.
We ran rampant in Versailles. Then promptly suffered from the heat stroke after wards – TIP: Do not walk the garden from one end to the other. Rent a goddamn golf cart! It is worth to see Marie Antoinette’s smaller estate though but the walk in 80 degrees weather was brutal. Plus, the paths were made of gravel which is not exactly fun to walk on.
Gizzy B channels her inner Anthony Bourdain while waiting for her absinthe at Cantanda II. Real absinthe is worth trying, by the way. We didn’t see Kylie Minogue dressed like the green fairy, but it did make us a little tingly.
We had the best lunch at L’Avant Comptoir, which is a standing bar for tapas and drinks. Although I am pretty sure this place was meant to be an eat and run joint, we stayed a long time to try as much as we could. The food was delicious and the service was excellent (aka patient with the random American girls).
What’s a Paris trip without a stop to Ladurée?
We had a great picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower. The park was packed with young people, eating bread, cheese and drinking wine together. This is one of the cooler experiences we had in Paris. We stayed from late afternoon and well into the evening, watching the Eiffel’s hourly light show when it got dark. In a way, I can see why this strange, modern architecture can be thought of as romantic.
Yes, their McCafé was definitely much better than in the USA. . . they had macaroons!
Would you come see mine and Pilbeam’s sexy show at the Moulin Rouge? It’s one of a kind!
Fetus street art?
I think Pilbeam thought I was only taking a photo of my eclair.
BONUS! Here’s a gif of Gizzy B and I making the jump at the Tower. Not from the Tower though. Just in front of it.
