SDCC 2013: The Legend of Friday Night
Friday night of San Diego Comic-con 2013 was legendary. It was possibly one of the best times I’ve had at the convention in all the years I was old enough to “party” during this nerd weekend. We started out at the Radical Studios x Ploom party, hit up Chris Gore’s book/comedy album launch event and then we ended up on a boat with Superman. I think my friends and I will tell and sing tales about that night for many, many moons.
Radical Studios was kind enough to extend their party invitation to me and few of my other friends. Check them out and all the awesome graphic novels they produce. The party was also sponsored by Ploom, which is a vapor company. Michelle (iamchubbybunny) got a free one to use for the night but shared with all of us. The free snacks and booze were also pretty awesome… as well as FREE SKEE BALL!
We take our skeeballin’ pretty seriously and intensely around here.
We made our way to Chris Gore’s party afterwards — which was the best party ever because the event had catered Filipino food: barbecue, fried rice, lumpia and pancit! I was hungry at this point and shoveled as much food as I could. I think we all pretty much did the same thing. Grateful to be fed!
Check out Chris Gore’s new not-for-children book and comedy album, Celebrities Poop! It’s pretty rad.
During his party, we discovered the dance floor upstairs and had a private dance party with the DJ.
Eventually, we decided to take the risk and see if we could get into the infamous Assassin’s Creed VIP party aka The Boat Party. We ran into more friends hoping to get on the boat and waited for quite awhile.
Although we weren’t all on the guest list, they were gracious enough to eventually let us inside! If you listen to our podcast, Ep. 128 Oh My Zod!, Gizzy B and I talk about how that night went down and my drunken pursuit to get Henry Cavill to dance. Oh, Superman, why won’t you be my friend?!
There’s Henry with his posse… stalker photo!
The dance floor was bumpin’ and yes… MORE OPEN BAR! Gotta tell you guys — this is the first time that waiting inline to get drunk and dance was completely worth it in the end. So much fun!
