Star Wars Celebration 2015
“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…” is the iconic phrase that begins every Star Wars movie. Well, my epic Star Wars journey would more appropriately start, “Just a week ago only twenty minutes away… without traffic… if I’m lucky…”
What I’m trying to say is that last weekend I got to attend Star Wars Celebration. Ah! Like many I grew up watching Star Wars and so I was delighted to be able to finally go to this Star Wars-centric event.
I have to say there was something special about SWC. Maybe part of it is because Star Wars is something very special to me that I associate so much with being a child that I cannot help but be nostalgic when I am surrounded by it. Regardless, SWC was an absolute blast that catered to that little eight year old Giselle who used to wear her hair in the Princess Leia buns every day.
This was my Saturday pass that features my favorite Star Wars character, Princess freaking Leia.
There was a good crowd at SWC, but it was never crowded to the point where it made me uncomfortable and frustrated. I’m so used to SDCC like crowds that this one was like a cool breeze.
I’m glad that there is now a movement of male slave Leias. Can this become the norm, please?
Check out this awesome Star Wars tabletop game! There was such a long line to play it that I decided to just be a spectator.
One of the things I really enjoyed about SWC is that is was more family oriented. It had a really nice and positive vibe to it that sometimes gets lost at other conventions. The employees were also very pleasant and helpful which definitely gets lost at other cons!
This stormtrooper was made for breast cancer awareness. That’s why it’s pink! :)
Did I mention there was a bar? Best. Con. Ever.
CANTINA! Cue the music.
I love little droids so much. Seriously I squee like a little kid each time I see one. This one kept following me around and bumping into me. I almost cried because that’s a totally normal reaction to droids and their cuteness.
Another thing I really enjoyed was all the cool photo opportunities. That’s honestly one of my favorite things to do at a convention, to take silly pictures and pretend that in some galaxy I might be cool.
Hanging out with my BFF Rey on Jakka. Like I do.
Checking my Instagram. R2 gives the greatest feedback with selfies.

I will without a doubt attend next year’s Celebration. It was great to go to a convention and be reminded why I love cons so much. It was a positive experience that brought out that little girl who fell in love with Star Wars so many years ago.
So, until next time, my little padawans. May the force be with you. Always.
