We finally did it… we played Dungeons & Dragons with Mike Myler and we even streamed it on Twitch.tv!
Mike and Savannah were kind enough to put up with us n00bs (myself and Gizzy B were super n00bs. I think Fortune Cookie knew what she was doing in general, ha!) and let us preview their new project, Mists of Akuma. Watch our hilarious campaign and we will also break down the audio into three parts soon for those who prefer to listen via the podcast.
Enjoy. I’m not sorry that I enjoyed shanking thugs a lot… as my character, of course.
With all of the Star Wars hype surrounding every corner of the nerd world recently, ChubbyBunny Michelle and Yume Ninja teamed up with Mandie of Geeky Glamorous to create this fashion editorial shoot featuring original design created by Catherine Elhoffer of Elhoffer Designs.
Hit play on our Behind the Scenes video to see the epic glory of the snow capped mountains… and then a minute of footage of us falling all over the place. Whee! More photos and credits below!
WARNING: Do NOT listen to this episode if you have not seen The Force Awakens and do not want spoilers. We talk with ALL THE FEELS! Plus, why it’s problematic for man’splainers to user the term “Mary Sue” to critic Rey as a character. Fanfic Theatre: Twilight x Buffy.
Today, Facebook reminded me that I wrote this blog post for Thanksgiving in 2011. We’ve done a lot of different things and met a lot of people since four years ago even though it feels like all that time just breezed by. Our staff members have changed as well with new people coming in and some moving on to other things. We’ve gone to a lot of events and helped out so many of our peers and supported tons of projects.
As for me, I haven’t changed much… I am still neurotic and running this blog has given me a lot of anxiety and frustration. I still get discouraged and I still want to quit half the time. Again, despite my tendency to run circles into my own awkward insanity, I am going to take a deep breathe and recognize all the things and people that I am truly grateful for.
For those of you within the geek community who continue to be true to yourselves and continue to be kind, I am grateful. To all my friends who continue to work hard for Defective Geeks— Giselle, Valerie, Michelle, Yume and Alex— you ladies are my constant source of happy-nerding and friendship. To all our supporting Lady Geeks— Sabina, Adri, Julia, Stephanie and Christy— thank you for contributing when you can. To our currently quiet co-founder, Nancy, we still love you!
You know what’s awesome? Star Wars. You know what else is awesome? Disney movies from our childhood. Now, what if I told you that there are some pretty awesome people out there who have combined these two into entities to create a very entertaining spoof called… wait for it… Star Wars the Musical.
Yes, it does exist! A couple of years ago the Space Pirate Queen and I met George Shaw, a very talented composer who has made this childhood dream mashup come to life.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Shaw a couple of years ago to promote the first episode of Star Wars the Musical and now padawans he needs our help to fund the sequel The Empire’s New Groove.
Hello, kiddies, and welcome to Awesome Fanfic Monday!
With all the hullabaloo with Star Wars I figured I would look for a neat Star Wars Fanfic, particularly one with “Dark Luke”, AKA Luke as a Sith. There are so many rumors going around with what to expect from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and one of those rumors is Luke turning to the Dark Side. I thought, why not look up a fic that features Dark Luke?
This story features an AU as to how that transition could begin, starting with good ol’ Anakin. This week’s Awesome Fanfic Monday is dedicated to Alternate Ending by ObiWriter341 of Fanfiction.net.
