Awesome Fanfic Monday: Arthur and Eames Bromance

Welcome to another edition of Awesome Fanfic Monday. This time I picked a story about one of my favorite on screen bromances; Arthur and Eames from Inception.

One of the many things that I enjoyed about that movie was the bickering between those two characters. I would happily watch a sequel if it were just Arthur and Eames stuck in an elevator with Arthur having a panic attack and Eames pushing every one of his buttons (hey, may I should write that fanfic…).  The fanfic for this week is called Facebook by pretend-to-care.

Fanart GLEE: Marvel’s Hawkeye

I hold a very special place in my heart for Hawkeye. I know everyone else loves them some of that Iron Man or Captain America or Thor, but to me, Hawkeye is my favorite Avenger from the movie. I also really enjoy the comic book series by writer Matt Fraction and artist, David Aja. Which means this edition of Fanart GLEE will also play homage to not only to Clint Barton but to the amazing and sassy Kate Bishop as well.

Actually, I’ll be totally honest — most of these are of Kate Bishop. She’s cool.

Awesome Fanfic Monday: Batman Style

Hello and welcome to the premiere post of our new regular segment, Awesome Fanfic Monday!

Twice a month we will feature one of our favorite pieces of fan fiction and talk about what makes it so special. One of the reasons why I wanted to start this segment is because fan fiction can be an easy source for giggles. I mean, haven’t we all read the infamous My Immortal and laughed until we cried? Sometimes though I think people get so caught up in the endearingly hilarious stories like My Immortal that they forget there are some pretty righteous pieces of writing out there that deserve some credit.

And what could be more ceremonious than starting off a segment with none other than fan fiction from Batman? I mean, come on. It’s Batman.

For our very first Awesome Fanfic Monday I would like to feature one of my favorite pieces, Never Walk Away by Stoneage Woman.

Fanart Glee: Kingsman: The Secret Service

Fanart by lamialee @ tumblr

It’s been awhile since I’ve done Fanart Glee and Kingsman: The Secret Service is the perfect fandom for today’s post. This movie gave me a lot of glee. Full on fangirl-squee-glee and of course, my fellow fans do not fail me with adorable fanart. I swear these are not all Gazelle art since she’s obviously the coolest character in the movie. One thing I want to mention too is that it’s awesome to see the fandom explode for this movie. There were SO many good artwork to choose from, I could be on Tumblr and Deviantart for days.

Check out my picks below!

Awesome (Awful) Sequels I’m Looking Forward To

As the title of our last podcast suggest and as I am sure most of you have noticed already — it is the Age of Sequels. Or reboots. Or re-hashing of movies from 20 years ago that Hollywood thinks they can make new cash with. Whatever you want to call it, it’s happening right now. The sad truth is that I am one of the enablers and that I am truly excited for these movies. I might be failing my peers in the creative community as a whole.

Independence Day 2

Independence Day is one of my favorite movies. I will fight with anyone’s beloved grandmother to the end that it is one of the most re-watchable films from the 90s. Next year in 2016, the movie will be 20 years old and I have a feeling this sequel is aiming to release in conjunction with that anniversary.

Geekmas Time Is Here!

Christmas season is upon us, and now more than ever there are many geek gifting options.

I’ve seeing the various geeky gifts lists pop up here and there, gifts for lady geeks, gifts for dude geeks, gifts for lazy geeks, and so on.

But lets be honest, tis the season of giving, and buying for our fellow geeky friends what we could never justify buying for ourselves. Not because we don’t love treating ourselves to well earned gifts, but because sometimes we feel a tad bit guilty buying those $20.00 geek themed cookie cutters when we should probably spend that money responsibly, like on booze or kitty litter.

I have compiled a list of 10 awesomely geeky gifts that we love, and would love to receive, though we might not necessarily buy for ourselves. However, we would have zero problems buying this for our friends or significant others (hint hint, significants!) I have also made this list completely absent of t-shirts and leggings, much as I love them, I think we can aim to be a little more creative than what we normally give our fellow geeks.

10. Virtually Vintage – 3D Geek Ornaments ($10.00/ea)

These 3D ornaments are rather gorgeous, and would be an amazing addition to any geek themed Christmas tree.

Okay, so the fandoms over on Tumblr have already begun rolling out some pretty hilarious Valentines.  No, really if these were really available they’d put Hallmark out of business. Here is a selection of the most interesting ones being reblogged from the cute feel inducing ones to the down right wrong! (But hilarious)
