Street Fighter x Tekken: Thousand Pounds Short Film Announcement

Are you a Street Fighter or a Tekken fan? Maybe both? You should check out this fun announcement video from Thousands Pounds who are filming a short film produced by Capcom.

Yeah, I love the girl kicking butt! Mostly because I am a Tekken girl all the way. I’ve kicked a few butts in the arcade back in my days, let me tell you. I’m looking forward to the Street Fighter x Tekken collaboration… although I’m sure I’ll get my ass kicked in the game.

Thousands Pounds will release the film in conjunction with the game’s release in March 2012.

Video Game: APB Reloaded Live Action Trailer

APB Reloaded is a mulitplayer, action shooter game available online. The trailer was released today and it goes all out. Live action actors take on the roles of the different characters you can play in the actual game. Cosplaying and kicking ass all at the same time!

I especially dig the transformation sequence that the actors go through from one costume to the next. This trailer looks pretty awesome and the mix of live action and snippets from the actual video game works really well. To sound quite cliché: it looks like a film trailer for a Mad Max/Tank Girl-style, post-apocalyptic, action movie. It’s fun to watch so check it out:

Check out the game’s website HERE.

There is also a Facebook campaign that coincides with the release of this trailer. Read more below from the press release.

The Hoff, Master of Disaster in Burnout Crash!

When you think you’ve seen it all when it comes to David Hasselhoff… think again. The former Baywatch actor turned reality TV show star is now the celebrity figure behind EA’s Burnout Crash! campaign. They’ve released this pretty crazy commercial that is gradually making its rounds around the internet. I mean, who doesn’t want to see The Hoff act all wacky? I think the video will speak for itself.

I know. No words can quite express all the visuals from the 2-minute long commercial. The game is available on both the Playstation Network and XBox LIVE Arcade. The game itself looks fun to play during parties or with a big group of friends hanging out. I’m sure most of us will wish that The Hoff would show up and say the line: “Time to get plucked.”

ClaDun PSP -This is an addictive game

ClaDun- This is an RPG

With the lack of new JRPGs on the main consoles (thanks NoA, NamcoBandai), I’ve been going back and picking up things I may have missed on the handhelds to try to fill the void. In doing so I’ve found some rather…questionable choices in gaming, but also some real gems!

ClaDun, is one of the gems for sure.  A NIS game for the PSP, PSN download only, I tended to brush it out as a quickie game since I tend to find DL only content to be..less than their UMD released. But, being a NIS game, this couldn’t be farther from the truth and it was easily worth the download.

ClaDun, short for Classic Dungeon, is an old skool dungeon crawler with modern mechanics, focused on leveling, customizing and loot. If grinding and loot aren’t for you, I can’t imagine this game would be as it’s light, light, light  on story, heavy on DUNGEONS AND LOOT. What story there is is full of NIS charm and light hearted silliness but it’s obviously not the main draw of the game and honestly I found myself playing as back-story-less custom characters more often than the MC as their stats were better for my play style.

Catherine PS3 -Love is Over-

It’s a Killer

So when Atlus announced Catherine, a game made by the Persona team but not a Persona game, fandom had mixed reactions. The majority supporting this direction and excited to see something new from their fave creative team, the minority bitching that Persona 5 should have taken priority, why branch out when you have a working formula?

I was on the fence, I love the Persona teams ideas, but a puzzle game? Eeeeeh, not my cup of tea. Would I be able to handle the challenge? Would I stick with it to see the end? I wasn’t sure, and I certainly wasn’t sure I’d like it, but given the team I’d give it a shot, and boy am I glad I did!

Catherine is at heart, an Atlus game. Meaning if you’re an Atlus fan you’ll find yourself in comfortable territory story-wise, charming characters in a bizzarro Earth world, real world problems with some less-than-real solutions. It’s ground they’ve covered before, but ground they know well and can do a lot with. For me the plot was the driving point of the game, I really wanted to find out what happened next, and the myriad of choices given to reach one of the 8 different endings were enough to entice multiple replays.

The move to older protagonists with older, adult problems, was a bonus for me, as an adult gamer. You can only play high school so many times once you’re done with high school before you’re left wanting something a little more relatable to your life. Catherine brings this in spades, marriage, children, commitment, job or family, pretty much everything you’ve had to, or will have to contemplate as an average working adult is covered, and for me, it made the game that much more fun. Do you answer the questions posed to you honestly, or do you answer them as you would in your perfect world?
