Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: New Character Images

Just in time for the Halloween season, Netflix has began teasing us with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a series based on the comic series with the same title. We all remember the charming television show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, during the 90s, but this version of our favorite witch from the Archie comics universe will be much darker. This time she is played by actress, Kiernan Shipka (known for her role in Mad Men).

Already, the show takes a lot of the same palette from CW’s Riverdale, since they are in the same “universe” so to speak. Imagine all the crossover possibilities.

Check out more new teaser character images below, including Sabrina’s aunts and good ol’ Harvey (played by Ross Lynch).

The 100, Why It’s Kind of the Best… and the Worst

All right, I confess. I got sucked into The 100 and I am not ashamed of it. I’ve told so many people how well-done and well-written this show is.

Then I immediately sigh and say, “But…. so problematic, ahhhh!” Look. It is completely possible to love a television show so deeply that my fandom heart makes a little room for it and I’m making imaginary wedding plans with Bellamy… but also acknowledge that this show might be the worst. Let’s discuss why. Spoiler warnings.

Hey, TV, You’re Awesome This Season

sleepyhollow

Technically, I don’t watch television since I have been watching everything online now. I still don’t know if I should feel bad about that or not, but I do things during the night and-and-and– it’s super hard to follow TV schedules, you guys. If you’ve been listening to our podcast, you know which shows I am big on this season but if not, I decided to write this blog for you and explain in Space Pirate Queen terms why I think these shows are awesome. Get ready.

Robot Chicken, Season 6 Now on DVD/Blu-Ray

RobotChicken_Season6
“More masturbation.”

That was part of the motto for Robot Chicken writers for Season 6 — and yes, there were tons of masturbation — and bodily fluids, disemboweled body parts and incredibly inappropriate jokes. If you’re not laughing at Robot Chicken’s antics then you’re probably dead inside. . . or your sense of humor is just boring and barely exists! As most of you know, the show is the brainchild of Seth Green and airs on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network. The premise of the show is stop motion animation with the toys most of us are familiar with and making them do things we all did when our parents weren’t looking.

My Anime Line Up for Fall

Collage

The summer of anime is almost over! It was really a good one, too [you can check out my review of Free! Iwatobi Swim Club]. I’m caught on on Shingeki no Kyojin [Attack on Titan], and so now I am both crying and laughing each week with the two animes.

But I digress, because now I am excited to talk about which anime I will be wasting hours on this coming fall.

The biggest theme I am seeing here is female focused anime, which will be a nice break I suppose from all the male-dominated stuff I have been watching as of late. However, I still haven’t seen anything that has really got me super excited at a first glance, so it will be interesting to see which anime I am still watching at the end of the season.

Which anime are you looking forward to this fall? Let me know! Maybe it’s something else I should be checking out.

Why Free! Is Pretty Much The Best Anime This Summer**

FREE anime1

Okay so the title is a bit of a hyperbole.

But hear me out.

I enjoy anime. And I enjoy pretty boys. You would think that stories that capitalized on the fact that I am not the only one who enjoys both of these things would be more abundant, but alas.

Then this summer, something changed. My tumblr became this bright beautiful place of 5 beautiful men, swimming. And being adorable, and angsty, and just all around squee worthy.

I might sound crazy right now. That’s fine. I’m going to continue to revel in this moment.

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club is what happened this summer. It’s only 8 episodes in, and it’s like a tsunami of awesome. Is that okay to say?

SpartaCast: The Series Finale

Last week, we said goodbye to the amazing show Spartacus. My friends and I got together every week to see the new episodes, and I couldn’t have gotten through this final epic season if it hadn’t been for our support group. In honor of the series finale, we recorded this special podcast! We discussed how we first got into the series, the language of the show, our favorite characters, the most memorable moments, some of our disappointments, and much more. (Warnings: Spoilers for all aired episodes and frank discussion of many of the mature themes on the show. Also, we’re potty mouths, so cursing ahoy!)

Making a Splash! The “Swimming Anime”

There’s this new animation circling around YouTube within the fangirl community and it’s gotten everyone into a tizzy.

Summer’s come early and it’s hot hot hot! Just what is this thing and why is everyone abuzz about it?

It is this ad for Kyoto Animation showcasing an untitled project about a men’s swim team.  This project actually dipped its toes in the pool in April 2012 when Animation Do (a property of Kyoto Animation) made an announcement for an untitled concept. The following two images were the only things released at the time.
