Ep. 19 Atomic Blonde For Days

It’s “Atomic Blonde” time, everyone! This week James and Giselle gush over the movie’s aesthetic, the action, James McAvoy as a degenerate (oh my), and Charlize Theron kicking ass. They also discuss the presence of Delphine, LGBTQIA representation in film/tv and narrative, along with male/female gaze.

Awesome (Awful) Sequels I’m Looking Forward To

As the title of our last podcast suggest and as I am sure most of you have noticed already — it is the Age of Sequels. Or reboots. Or re-hashing of movies from 20 years ago that Hollywood thinks they can make new cash with. Whatever you want to call it, it’s happening right now. The sad truth is that I am one of the enablers and that I am truly excited for these movies. I might be failing my peers in the creative community as a whole.

Independence Day 2

Independence Day is one of my favorite movies. I will fight with anyone’s beloved grandmother to the end that it is one of the most re-watchable films from the 90s. Next year in 2016, the movie will be 20 years old and I have a feeling this sequel is aiming to release in conjunction with that anniversary.

A Company Man and Weiss Kreuz: I Love Assassins

a company man

A Company Man is a South Korean action-thriller film about a hitman, Ji Hyeong-Do, who clocks in at a seemingly normal looking office every day wearing a typical suit and tie. The company he works for is in fact full of trained assassins pretending to file and photocopy papers at their cubicles while quietly taking on hit jobs from their rich clients. Clevver Movies: Kick Ass Women of 2012

I admit it – I freakin’ love the Resident Evil movies and I love watching Mila Jovovich be a badass and kick some zombie butt. Gizzy B and I are especially looking forward to the return of Michelle Rodriguez in the next one!

Seriously though. What’s up with Rodriguez coming back from the “dead” in all her movie franchises? Not that I’m complaining. The lady deserves a Kick Ass Women award too.
