INTERVIEW: Emily Piggford on That’s My DJ, Creativity and Theatre

Emily Piggford is known for her compelling role as Meagan in the award-winning web series, That’s My DJ, and won Best Performance by an Actress at the Canadian Screen Awards. You can also see her in other television shows like The Girlfriend Experience, Lost Girl and Hemlock Grove. We spoke to her about her experience working on one of the most unique web series online and also her work in theatre. Check out the interview below.

What initially drew you to your character, Meagan, in That’s My DJ?

That she was a party girl with a heart of gold! Also I really like my quiet time and country music and staying in and while Meagan and I are both very playful people, we have completely different playgrounds. I was excited to play someone that was so joyfully immersed in this world of partying and EDM and DJs that I was so far removed from.

Interview: Roseanne Supernault Talks Northlander and Diversity in Media

roseannes-1870

We spoke to actress, Roseanne Supernault, about her upcoming movie, The Northlander which explores Indigenous culture in a dystopian and science fiction world. She is a strong voice for representation in media and also works with youth as a facilitator for suicide prevention. After reading this interview, I think you’ll agree with us that Roseanne is a real life Wonder Woman!

I watched the trailer for The Northlander and I am pretty excited about this film! I’ve watched fantasy and science fiction shows for years and I always think it’s worth discussing that a lot of them are still lacking representation. I think it’s great that The Northlander explores a different perspective through Aboriginal characters. Please tell our readers about it and about the character that you play.

The Northlander is a Dystopic Adventure Sci-Fi that takes the main character on a mission for his people and along the way he meets my character Mari, a Huntress. Both of us are searching for identity and belonging, and in the midst of it all become entangled with the nefarious and nomadic Heratics who seem to want something from both of us…

Tamsen McDonough of Syfy’s KILLJOYS

tamsen

Tamsen McDonough currently plays Lucy, the most cheeky AI spaceship in the galaxy, in SyFy’s KILLJOYS. She brings in a lot of fun to the show, keeping things spicy for the main characters (and maybe a little weird sometimes, check out the episode ‘I Love Lucy’…). Get to know her in our interview below! She is hilarious, dorable and apparently, has a thing for egging things.

Tell us about your current show, KILLJOYS and your character, Lucy.

The Killjoys is a comedic and dramatic action TV series set in space. It follows a trio of bounty hunters, known as Killjoys, who chase deadly warrants through the Quad, a distant area that is near the start of a violent class war among multiple planets. And their mode of transportation is the sleek and sassy AI spaceship, Lucy. She’s been called the fouth Killjoy and loves her humans… no bias but I think she’s amazing!

INTERVIEW: Tommie-Amber Pirie, Witching It Up on BITTEN

20130910_shalanandpaul_0028 You know, it’s true — Canada gets a lot of cool shows, and one of those include Space and SyFy’s original series, BITTEN. Enough with the male driven cast of werewolves show! Bitten is about a female werewolf and her struggle between her supernatural world while trying to live a normal life. Tommie-Amber Pirie joins the cast of BITTEN and was kind enough to answer a few questions about her upcoming role as a witch on the show. Werewolves and witches, need I say more? Read on and get to know Tommie-Amber with us. Did we mention she had worked with Daniel Radcliffe before as well?

Tell us about joining the cast of BITTEN and your role as a witch? What can you tell us about your character?

Yes! I have had the pleasure of joining the amazing team of the BITTEN cast and crew for season two as a witch named Paige Winterbourne. Her and her coven join the pack in this up and coming season and many exciting things ensue! I can’t say too much about her role in the season but know that she is a great addition to the series. Not only because I have a job! Ha! But because more female power on this show rocks! Everything thus far had been utterly enjoyable. I am thrilled to go to work every day.

INTERVIEW: Alisen Down of ‘Gracepoint’

unnamedFor those of you looking forward to the upcoming show Gracepoint, you are in for a real treat. I had the pleasure of conducting a phone interview with Alisen Down who stars in the show as the character Kathy Eaton. Alisen was kind enough to take the time to chat with us and talk not only about her character on Gracepoint, but also about breaking away from feminine stereotypes, her love for writing, and her passion for helping endangered elephants. Guys, she’s pretty cool. She also loves Batman, so I might be a little biased.

Check out the interview to learn more about this wonderful actress!

Tell me about your character Kathy on the show Gracepoint.

Kathy is the editor of the local newspaper and I kind of see her as the cautious editor of the newspaper. She’s sort of the voice of Gracepoint. She’s very strong, very smart, and not to be underestimated, but also very kind. I admire her quite a bit as a person, actually.

What has been your favorite thing so far about being on the show?

Many things, really. From the very beginning when they aged me up to play her to meeting Anna Gun and David Tennant and Jackie Weaver and all these amazing actors to working with all the producers who have been so fabulous and working with such well written material. The entire show was a gift.
