The Space Pirate Queen and Gizzy B talk Fortune Cookie’s ears off about Wondercon 2013 from the cosplay, the people and the terrible parking situation. They talk about the panels they went to like Leah Cevoli’s All Shapes and Sizes, what the convention was like in comparison to SDCC and why they are so exhausted anyways! Fanfic Theater: Harry Potter/My Immoirtal.
During Wondercon 2013, I wore one of my dream costumes. Ever since I saw Cassandra Cain’s Batgirl designs, I fell hardcore in love with the idea of cosplaying the character. About a year ago, I met Lauren of Castle Corsetry at a SUPER*MARKET event in Meltdown Comics and I was excited to see her work in person. I asked her if she would be interested if I commissioned Batgirl from her and she agreed! She made this amazing suit with the cape, the utility belt and even the gloves to match. For the cowl and guantlets, fellow cosplayer and friend, Anne Marie, recommended SoloRoboto Industries.

Believe it or not, we’re already gearing up for convention season. Wondercon is less than a couple of weeks away but we are already planning (fretting over?) San Diego Comic-con in July. No worries — we’ve got a kick ass hotel room locked down for this year and our press passes are secured so the Defective ladies will be representing yet again at the biggest west coast nerdfest of the year. I decided to go through some photos and scrounge up some memories to share with the readers today from the many cons I’ve managed to attend in the past years. Read more below for some of these random memories.
