The internet exploded with Disney’s buy out of Lucasfilm and the Lady Geeks discuss the new status of Leia as a Disney Princess. We also talk about Halloween and costumes… and six to eight pack abs on the Green Arrow.
So after many failed missions to go to the famed Trader Sam’s the interactive Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel, where certain drinks allegedly made bar stools go down and Volcanoes erupt, my friends and I finally checked it out last week. Giselle, Quintein and I marveled at the ambiance of the place. It IS like a disneyland attraction but a BAR at the same time- Very much like the bad-ass child of the Tiki-Room. Trader Sam’s is also filled with many gifts and letters from friends such as Indiana Jones and one Captain Jack Sparrow.
While Quintein and I looked through the awesome island themed drinks, Giselle announced she was going to order a secret drink! THE NEVERLAND TEA!!!! Which if I had an android phone at the time I would’ve hopped right on the internet to look up the secret menu. I resolved to check it out as soon as I had a chance.
That night Quintein and I ordered the Uh-Oa! drink which came in a bowl set ABLAZE, the bar went dark, a volcano started to erupt as everyone joined in the “Uh-Oa!” chant while Quintein and I tossed nutmeg into the flames to make FIREWORKS!! Oh and it started raining in the bar.
That drink was so awesome, IT SET FIRE TO THE RAIN
The Lady Geeks discuss the not-so-innocent behind the scenes experiences and stories of people who work at Disneyland, specifically, the tale of a Jack Sparrow. Then go off on a tangent about the TV show, Once Upon A Time. It’s sooooooo good, you guys. Other topics include hydrating, bachelorettes and Skullgirls.
Our passion for all things geek fun time now! Yes, the Lady Geeks do talk about SNL’s “J-Pop America Fun Time Now” and how the skit is pretty damn accurate. Admit it, you weeaboos. We talk a little about the Avengers trailer, Ed Norton’s love for the Hulk and Joss Whedon. Fanfic Theatre involves Goku, Anne Frank and Hitler.
Gizzy, Fortune Cookie and the Space Pirate Queen discusses the re-release of Disney animated films as 3D movies in theatres. They ponder the future of 3D technology, especially 3D television and watching TV sitcoms in three dimensions. Then SPQ threatens to beat Fortune Cookie with a baseball bat. It’s friendship, you guys! Fanfic Theatre is a little Darth Maul lovin’ and the power of hugs.
AVAST! YARR! — Every year on September 19 it is officially (according to the internet that is) Talk Like a Pirate Day. As you all know, I am not a traditional pirate. I have respect for it’s long time traditions and customs such as looting, plundering and drinking a lot of ale. Since I am the Space Pirate Queen, I do my looting and plundering in space (much bigger than the ocean!) and instead of ale, I drink a lot of space wine.
That is why I wanted to blog about Disney’s Treasure Planet which is honestly one of my favorite animated films.
Unfortunately, Treasure Planet didn’t get as much love as it deserved and suffered severe criticism for being “gimmicky” for taking the literature it was based on to space. I will not discuss why this movie was not as successful as most Disney films are but I will tell you why I personally love it.
The Nerd Rage is strong in Gizzy as we discuss how George Lucas ruins yet another classic scene in the original Star Wars trilogy. The Space Pirate Queen and Fortune Cookie marvel at the easy access to anime kids have these days and then go on to rant about how ungrateful these goddamn hipsters are. In Darth Vader’s words: “No!” Fanfic Theatre is all about Lucy Lawless lovin’ this week.
