INTERVIEW: Mystery Thriller Film, PADMAVYUHA With Director Raj Krishna Explores Complex History of Hinduism

PADMAVYUHA is Raj Krishna’s latest thriller film starring Nikhil Prakash, Ross Turner and Pooja Batra, which is set to hit the film festival circuit in 2020, starting with the North Carolina South and East Asian Hollywood Film Festival (NCISAFF). Krishna delves and pulls inspiration from faith and mythology for the setting of his story’s mystery. Find out more below.

Hello Raj, thank you so much for answering our questions. Can you tell us about your film, PADMAVYUHA. What is it about and what inspired the whole premise of the story?

Padmavyuha is a unique Indian-American production, a mystery thriller. It’s about a mysterious phone call that draws a religious studies professor into a dark labyrinth of mystic puzzles– the answer to which could shake the foundations of the world’s religions. I wanted it to be a trippy, edge-of-your-seat thriller, whilst also being a comprehensive, balanced lesson in Indian history. I followed the good old-fashioned filmmaking advice and made the movie I would want to see on opening night.

INTERVIEW: Risa Stone on Creating and Starring in the Thriller Film ‘Man Eater’

Risa Stone explores the fears and doubts most have when it comes to meeting strangers through dating apps with her short film, Man Eater. What would you do when your dream man or woman becomes your worst nightmare? Man Eater will premiere on October 15th 2017 at the 2017 ReelWorld Film Festival as part of the ACTRA Shorts Program. Find out more from Risa below!

Thanks for doing this interview with us, Risa! Can you tell us about yourself and how you got started acting?

Thank you for interviewing me! Some people, mainly my parents, would say that I started acting as soon as I was old enough to engage, so let’s call it age three. As a child, I was always putting on some kind of home-show but I would have to say that my acting career got “serious” over the last six years when I started actively working in commercials, film and TV.

ANIME, MOVIES

A Company Man and Weiss Kreuz: I Love Assassins

a company man

A Company Man is a South Korean action-thriller film about a hitman, Ji Hyeong-Do, who clocks in at a seemingly normal looking office every day wearing a typical suit and tie. The company he works for is in fact full of trained assassins pretending to file and photocopy papers at their cubicles while quietly taking on hit jobs from their rich clients. This movie was well-made and the action sequences were amazing to watch. Funny enough, the biggest feeling I got while watching this movie was nostalgia. Weird, right?

BOOK

BOOK REVIEW: ‘Acquainted With the Night’ by Piper Maitland

Also read the author’s guest blog for Defective Geeks -  BLOG TOUR: Piper Maitland’s ‘Acquainted With the Night.’

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book. I’ve been caught up with reading young adult novels these days that it’s been months since I’ve read a book for grown ups. Acquainted With the Night is a rather epic story – a mix of mystery, history, passionate romance and vampires.

No, the lead girl does not have sex with vampires. Who sparkly. Or brood. Quite the opposite. These vampires are ruthless, NOT sexy and just want her dead.
