As some of you may be aware, a little movie is coming out later this year called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. It’s kind of ridiculous how excited I am for this film. In lieu of the growing hype I felt it necessary for me to post a thoughtful and personal blog on my anticipation. Without further ado, here it is.
I call dibs on Kili.

When belonging to a fandom it is important to stake your claim and have documented evidence that you, indeed, “saw them first.” Of course, I could be mature about this and not objectify the characters, or I could embrace the dark and savage side of fandom and just give in.
This is not to say that I won’t go all creepy, I mean, show respectful admiration for other characters as well (Fili and Thorin, you’re next).
It doesn’t hurt that Aidan Turner also played one of my favorite characters on Being Human, a show I enjoy quite a bit. I’d be lying if I said that didn’t effect this very important “dibs” decision of mine.
Here I am writing a fangirly blog about a character from a Tolkien story. Is it 2003 again?
Now that I’m done with this imperative and totally not creepy declaration, let’s watch the trailer for the bajillionth time:
