Jurassic Con 2012
Frank and Son’s Collectible show hosted the first Jurassic Con this past weekend at Rowland Heights, California. Frank and Son’s is a biweekly “convention” that is opened twice a week. Think, Kowloon City for nerds or as I liked to compare it, a Farmer’s Market for nerd collectors! Jurassic Con consisted of props from the actual Jurassic Park movies, plus other dinosaur related movies, television shows, artwork and actual archaeology finds.
The entrance to the exhibit was pretty fun, they’ve recreated the cages from the movies!
I was wearing my dinosaur hoodie from Happy Hoodie Friends. It was a small exhibit, not much of a convention, and I was in and out pretty fast. Not to say it wasn’t a cool idea and they did have a lot of neat stuff on display. I dig the replicas of all the cars from the movie.
The actual props were fun to see in person and up close. I think if they can repeat the exhibit, they would want to turn it into something bigger.
I wished there had been groups of people dressed like dinosaurs! Maybe next time…
It was also my first time ever at Frank and Son’s and it was overwhelming! There were so much toys and collectibles that were being sold. It’s kind of a relief that I no longer collect as much “stuff” as I used to or else this place would have eaten all my money. It’s definitely a dream place for anyone who is into collecting toys and comic books.
There were even movie props from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
