I am a huge fan of the show Absolutely Fabulous. There have been many champagne filled nights watching this show and wishing that I were half as fantastic as Edina and Patsy, two of the most amazing heroines ever. I’m not sure what this says about my convictions, but I pretty much want to become Patsy Stone. She’s beautiful, hilarious, knows what she wants out of life, and doesn’t care what other people think of her. She is, well, fabulous.
In many ways I already do things to tribute these fine ladies. I drink copious amounts of red wine and champagne, many times I have been silly (a diplomatic way of saying drunk) in public, I do enjoy looking chic, and boy oh boy do I love red lipstick. I am rarely caught without it. Something that Edina and Patsy do quite a lot on the show is visit a department store in London called Harvey Nichols, or “Harvey Nicks” as Edina and Patsy often refer to it. During my trip to London I finally had a chance to visit this department store and it was fantastic. So posh, so delicious, and so out of my price range, but I didn’t care. I was at Harvey Nicks.
I was however finally able to do something that I have wanted to do ever since I started watching Absolutely Fabulous and that was have lunch there. For Edina and Patsy, I had lunch at Harvey Nichols.
I took the elevator to the fifth floor and voila! I was greeted into this fabulous restaurant. I told them I was dining by myself and they gave me a table with a view.
This is the interior. I love the vibe it has. It’s modern, but with a touch of nature and a dash of class. It’s a very pleasant atmosphere to a enjoy a meal. I have to say I was a bit giddy from how posh it was, especially since I was a tourist in a foreign country.
First I drank some signature water. Fancy!
Then, sweety dahlings, I had some Pinot Noir. I had two glasses, one for Edina and another for Patsy, and they each tasted like happiness and the tears of angels.
This was a beef carpaccio dish. Those are baby mushrooms with beans on top . It had a delicious texture with just enough of a salty taste to compliment the use of olive oil.
This was melted brie and and grilled polenta. Each time I took a bite I cried.
Time for dessert! Kids, this is sticky toffee pudding. Say “hello” to Mr. Pudding. He the tastiest thing ever and I would have run away with him if I hadn’t eaten him. He was just too tasty for his own good.
Don’t forget the complimentary macaroons. Huah.
Sometimes it tough being a fan and doing things like expressing one fanaticism by eating delicious food at posh places, but what can I say. It is a cross that I am willing to bear and I think Edina and Patsy would appreciate the gesture.
Now I know that I’m just one step closer to being like this classy broad, the great Patsy Stone.
