This year I finally had an excuse to really gussy myself up like a classy mythical broad. I was invited to cover the third annual MYTH Masquerade Ball on May 24th, 2014 at the Los Angeles Theatre in Downtown LA.
Pssst, that’s me in the middle! I bought a wig and took any opportunity to creep on people dressed up as mermaids. I’m not sure if you can tell from my costume, but I was a “Sea Nymph”. As hard as I worked on my costume, it didn’t compare to the glorious outfits people sported at the event. Check out the pictures below to see the marvelous attendees!
One of my favorite aspects of this event was seeing the beautiful and creative outfits that people created and adorned. This was truly an event when one could dress up to the nines, and then some. What could be more fantastic than not only dressing up, but adding an element of myth to it?
Even the Doctor made an appearance!
The inside of the Los Angeles Theater was stunning and the way it was lit and decorated really added to the dramatic and mythical atmosphere. I could have spent all night just staring at the ceiling.
You know what made this event really special? They provided food and they did it with style. Yes, I am a true glutton and am easily won over.
I could have spent all night wandering around and looking at the different costumes and settings.
Another part of the event that helped to create a truly elegant atmosphere were the performances.
What makes Myth Masquerade different from other events I have attended is the pure unadulterated creativity. It was humbling to see the gorgeous and unique costumes that people wore. It also made me realize that I have to step up my game for next year!
