Ep. 125 Bane Can’t Eat a Hotdog

It’s 4th of July weekend coming up — or if you’re an anime fan, Anime Expo weekend! Fortune Cookie is sleep deprived and slaving over cosplay projects while the Space Pirate Queen and Gizzy B discuss the art of Batman eating a hotdog. Special background guest: Yan. Fanfic Theater: Batman x Robocop.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Prologue (No Spoilers)

I just got home from watching the first six minutes of The Dark Knight Rises.

Holy. Crap. I’m a little speechless right now, I’m not going to lie. That was so awesome I can barely comprehend it. I’m not going to spoil anything, but what a fucking entrance for Bane. You get a sense of his power, mental and physical. You could feel everybody in the theater enthralled with what they saw. The sequence that takes place is incredible, intense, and I’m sure on its way to becoming iconic. I’m replaying it in my head right now, and WOW. Just… wow. It was everything I hoped it would be and totally worth the drive and waiting in line since 4:30.

Wait, give me a moment to hyperventilate… OK. I’m good now.

Anyway, Batman fans, you are in for a treat. These six minutes are badass, intense, and will leave you in awe. The coolest part is that we didn’t just see the first six minutes of the movie, afterwards they give you short, but sweet glimpses of other scenes. Less than a second, but just enough to tease you with what is to come. It took a few minutes for the prologue to sink in, but once it did, I became so excited. In so many words, it was fucking epic.

Holy. Crap.

My only complaint is that we only saw six minutes! I know that was part of the deal, but all of a sudden the prologue was over and I wanted more. Dianne and I agreed that they should have just played the prologue on a loop until 10:30.

I can’t believe I have to wait until July to see the rest.

By the way, I was second in line! A fact I am very proud of.  I was the first person for the 10PM showing, but counting the people from the 10:30 PM showing, I was second. (I feel bad about this though, because I was video interviewed based upon the fact that I was “first” when technically I was not. I was so nervous and excited with this huge camera in my face that I didn’t point out that technically I wasn’t. I feel like kind of a jerk right now. So, people who were really first, if you see this, I’m so sorry! I was nervous and barely able to think straight. I did not mean to steal your crown of Firstness!)

Now, everyone. Pardon me while I breathe into a paper bag and cry tears of joy while eating ice cream.

The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign and New Poster

The past couple of days have been very exciting for us Batman movie fans. Before I talk about the viral campaign, I would like to show this badass new teaser poster just released today:

Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am. This poster teases us with the possibilities of TDKR. Is the story going to follow aspects of Knightfall? Since TDKR is going to be the last of this specific franchise, how will it be finished? Trust me, these feeble typed up words on a blog do not properly represent the half-sick blubbering excited fangirl typing them right now.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer to Premiere with Harry Potter

According to Batman-News.com the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises will premiere with the last chapter of the Harry Potter films.

So pretty much Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 is going to be one of the most nerdly epic experiences ever. EVER I SAY!

I hope that the teaser for TDKR will be more revealing than the teaser for The Dark Knight which, true to the utmost nature of teasing, gave us only voices and some admittedly sweet lines. Will we see Catwoman? Will we see Bane? Only time will tell, my friends, only time will tell…

I, for one, will be counting down the seconds until I get to see that teaser. Is it sad that hearing this news makes me totally giddy? And when I say sad I mean amazing.

The teaser for The Dark Knight. Three years later it still gives me chills.

Let’s raise our glasses, fellow Batfans, because this is just the beginning.

The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign

Batman fans may remember back in 2007 when the viral campaign for The Dark Knight started. There were campaign sites for Harvey Dent, and many times there were opportunities for fans to get involved, like going to instructed areas to support Harvey Dent (as seen in this Gotham Cable News website) or following directions given by the cryptic site WhySoSerious.com and after completing the task the fans were rewarded with new pictures of characters, sound bites, and other clues to what the movie would have in store for us.

I can say with complete honesty that I had never had so much fun anticipating a movie in my entire life. The viral campaign was a wonderful interactive experience and many times let us into the minds of the characters from the upcoming film. I’ll never forget getting a phone call from 000-000-0000, but then once I answered I realized it was a phone call that was happening during one of the Joker’s bank robberies. The whole experience put a huge smile on my face (something I’m sure the Joker would approve of). A list of all of TDK viral sites.

Now it’s happening all over again. For months fans were wondering when the viral campaign would start for The Dark Knight Rises, and a couple of weeks ago it finally did. It started with the official site. If you go there you hear this cryptic chanting, but no images. One of the fans, God bless them, put the sound file through an audio visualizing program and what came up was a hashtag: #TheFireRises. Using this hashtag revealed a mysterious twitter account by the same name. After enough tweets it finally revealed the first official picture from The Dark Knight Rises.

Now there is a channel on YouTube with the same username that’s releasing vague videos alluding to an escape from Arkham Asylum. There is debate as to whether or not the channel is legit or simply the makings of a zealous fan, but either way I recommend checking it out because the videos are neatly crafted.

A video called “Outbreak”.

I am excited to see what the rest of the viral campaign has in store for us. If you didn’t have a chance to be involved with TDK viral campaign (and if you’re a creepy obsessive fan like myself) then you really ought to keep an eye out for this one. The people in charge of the campaign make being a dedicated fan a very rewarding experience. Since this is the last Batman movie that Christopher Nolan is directing I’m going to make sure to enjoy this to the fullest capacity. Even though my anticipation for this movie is borderline psychotic, I’m going to appreciate this time of waiting and enjoy it while it lasts.

So for now, kids, let’s sit back and see how this viral campaign unfolds. I’m sure, no matter what, it’s going to be a great ride.
