Defective Geeks at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo 2015!

We were super excited to be a part of the action at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo this past weekend with our friends at the Comic Bug!

The Comic Bug brought their community of talented creators to Comikaze with a “pavilion” which consisted of  long rows of tables at the artist alley featuring comic artists, writers and even the new geek dating app, Cuddli. We got to sit and hang out next to artists like Dave CroslandJim Mahfood, Richard Starkings, Rafael Navarro and many, many more.

To add to the fun, we created cards that let fans express what their feelings about geeks or fangirls are. We hoped to spark conversation and pride in being a geek girl, and people did not disappoint! Take a look at some of the empowering answers, artwork, and awesome cosplay we saw from the Comikaze con-goers.

Created by the most charming men in comic books, Mike Wellman (writer) and Rafael Navarro (artist), Guns A’Blazin’ kicks off it’s book tour at The Comic Bug on September, 2015. Manhattan Beach’s number one comic book store was party central with live music, tons of comic books, nachos, drinks and of course, the geeks (and those associated with the self-proclaimed geeks).

Next stop: The Golden Apple in Los Angeles THIS Wednesday on September  16, 2015. Check out the event page for more information.

Our 5th Year Anniversary!

Five years ago, on February 24th 2007, I made the first “official” blog post on the revamped DefectiveGeeks.com front page. It was nothing exciting, at least not compared to what the blog has evolved to. Pilbeam and I had this website for awhile but we used it for personal portfolios. We were never quite sure what to do with the “front page” until I decided to jump the blogging bandwagon.

This blog has gone through a lot and it’s so rewarding to find our place in the community. Thank you so much for all of YOUR support! We couldn’t have done it without every single reader, listener or viewer. The next five years is going to be even more amazing.

For everyone in the Southern California area, please come to our party tomorrow night at the Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach. There will be a live podcast recording, cake balls from Lil Rae Cakes, prizes contributed by Comikaze Expo and Ogeeku, cosplayers, FREE BOOZE and tons of nerdy fun! It will be a geeky love fest. I apologize in advance if I end up crying tears of happiness in front of everyone.

It’s a comic book store too, so don’t forget to get your shop on and buy new books!
