If you are into anime at all, there’s no way you haven’t heard of Love Live, the insanely popular series that tells the story of a group of girls that saves their school by becoming an idol group, and gaining popularity by singing and dancing their way into people’s hearts, creating more new students for the small, failing school.
With two seasons under their belt, the 9 girls of LoveLive finish their story arc with their feature film, LoveLive! The School Idol Movie, debuting all of the world this past weekend. (Don’t worry, they are planning a new season, but it will feature different girls at a different school striving to be idols!)
NIS America distributed the LoveLive! movie across the US, including several sold out weekend showings at the Downtown Independent Cinema in Los Angeles, CA. Luckily, we (YumeNinja and Myself, ChubbyBunny Michelle) were able to score some tickets and join our weeaboo brethren to the path of our trash life, haha.
Check out our photos of fans from the Sunday showing, and then, my very, very fangirl version of a review. Spoilers below!
Moshi Moshi Nippon Festival arrived in Los Angeles this summer for a weekend of Japanese pop culture. The event hosted popular Japanese street fashion models, including twins, AMIAYA as well as Ayumi Seto, Yuri, Rin Rin Doll, and Hiko Achiha. Both Japanese and local brands set up shop to sell clothes and accessories to fans. Plenty of Japanese food and candy were also available! Fans also got to enjoy panels, karaoke and a fashion show. Check out our video and photos below!
Redbubble.com has been making the rounds on my social media lately and I was thrilled when they offered to send me one of their products to review for Defective Geeks! Ladies and gents — this is the amazing Space Cat pouch.
First off, Redbubble carries plenty of different products and on their website, they rightfully proclaim that they are “simply the finest and most diverse creative community and marketplace on the interlink.”
Last Saturday night we took a trip over to Kawaiiland!
So what exactly is Kawaiiland?
Presented by Hello Drama PR, JPy+ Magazine, Ninja Crate, and Studio Kuni; Kawaiiland was geared as an ultimate fashion, music, and art event encompassing all things “Kawaii” (Cute). The event showcased a variety of artwork and offered a plethora of cute shopping for guests.
Hello! This is new Defective Geeks blogger, Michelle Nguyen, aka “Chubby Bunny,” on my first post and bringing you my first Defective Geeks collab event!
For the past 3 years, I’ve gathered together my girlfriends to celebrate a an oft-hated holiday, but spun to celebrate our friendship with each other, instead of getting all worked up about whether we had a date for the big V-Day or not. Also, I once saw that episode of Parks & Recreation where they did it , so I just stole the idea, because I’m cool like that.
Geek Gals, time to show your love!
It’s that time of year again, to battle the onslaught of Valentine’s Day mushiness with a day just for us girls to celebrate friendships!
This will be my third year hosting this event, but this time, Defective Geeks is joining in the fun! You lovely ladies can bring Valentines for other guests, or small treats to share! Totally optional! Feel free to just show up and say hi!
The venue this year will be at the Wellesbourne, a romantic Shakesperian-themed bar on the Westside. The Wellesbourne has amazing cocktails, and a Foosball table, to boot! We will have a few tables in the Game room (located on the right of the bar) so come and join us!
Lovey-dovey or geek attire encouraged, but not mandatory ♥
**This is a girl’s only event! Boys, we’ll see you some other time– this one’s for the ladies!
