Cosplay Round Up: Anime Expo 2015

Another year of Anime Expo flew by, closing it’s 24th year.
As we’re coming down from our AX high, and gearing up for San Diego Comic Con, here’s a cool round up of cosplayers and cosplay gatherings we saw this year.

This year there was an abundance of love for classic shoujo manga like Sailor Moon, classic CLAMP Series, League of Legends. We also appreciated the abundance of sport anime cosplay, and the funny memes.

Many cosplayers were also able to make use of the pre-made photo sets that AX brings back every year, as well as the cosplay repair stations.

What other cosplays did you guys enjoy at AX this year?

Japan LA’s 8th Year Anniversary

Japan LA 8th Year Anniversary

Japan LA, a store of all things adorable in Los Angeles, celebrated their 8th year anniversary. It’s been awhile since I’ve attended a Japan LA event, but they always will hold a special place in my kawaii heart. Hello Kitty was in attendance to take photos with guests as well as singer, Traci Hines and all-around-amazing-person, Jenny Rae.

Yes, much shopping was had on my part and customers who spent more than $30+ got a free gift bag as well. I managed to snag a bag of full of Rilakkuma goodies!

Check out more photos below.

Sailor Moon Crystal Trailer: Dissecting our Otaku Youth.. and the Trailer

Praise be to the moon god. IT’S FINALLY HERE! Today, fans of Sailor Moon got their first look at the new anime, “Sailor Moon Crystal,” the reboot of the entire franchise, which begins airing July 5th.

5Title

Of course, when a cherished, nostalgic, and altogether life-changing anime gets redone, there’s gonna be a couple of squeaky wheels.  Let’s face it: long time fans of the franchise have TWENTY YEARS of nerd feels about Sailor Moon! We all have memories of how it shaped what we thought anime was, or how it changed our lives. Hell, my username since I was 13 has been “IAMCHUBBYBUNNY” specifically because I identified with Usagi’s clumsiness and was so in love with Sailor Moon. (Spoiler: I’m 32 now so that’s a realllllyyyy long freaking time to stick with a name as silly as that!)
