INTERVIEW: Michael Antonakos Stars as Alexios in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey

Born in Athens, Greece and raised in Lake Louise, Alberta, actor Michael Antonakos is the voice of Alexios in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey, the latest game in the blockbuster series released last month. From theater, to film and television, to voice acting and motion capture– Michael has done it all! His voice can also be heard in Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, Dead Rising 4, Mass Effect Andromeda and many more. Read about his journey into acting below.

Hi Micheal, thank you for doing this interview with Defective Geeks! Tell us about Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey and your character, Alexios. What is it like being the voice of a video game franchise that so many people love?

You’re very welcome! Thank you for chatting with me.

Well, it’s a hell of a game to say the least. It all takes place in Ancient Greece around 431BCE, the beginning of Western Civilization, and the height of the Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta. You (the player) get choose to be a male (Alexios) or female (Kasandra), a mercenary (Ancient Greek: misthios) who can fight for both sides, while on a quest to unite their family and uncover a malign cult called the Order of The Ancients.

It was pretty cool to be a part of this incredible franchise. It comes with a lot of weight to it, but I’ve been very honored to be a part of such a massive game.

Awesome Fanfic Monday: Legolas by Laura

Welcome to Awesome Fanfic Monday!

Despite the amazing Star Wars fever going on right now this time of year always reminds me of Lord of the Rings. The movies were always released mid December, so I cannot help but associate wintertime with the lovely magic that is Tolkien.

One of the more infamous pieces of fanfiction out there is a personal favorite of mine and it is “Legolas by Laura”. It’s up there with the Harry Potter fanfic “My Immortal” and I think deserves recognition as being one of the first fanfics to go viral. Let’s face it, us older people, if we had been a pre-teen and had access to a computer, we probably would have written something very similar to this. Like all great myths and old world ballads, the true author of this is unknown. I just hope she or he is proud of its legacy.

Awesome Fanfic Monday: Frodo and His Rubber Undies

Welcome to another edition of Awesome Fanfic Monday!

One of my top fandoms is Lord of the Rings, so it goes without saying that a lot of my favorite pieces of fanfiction take place in middle earth. One of my favorite kinds of fanfiction is the parody. Nothing puts a smile on my face like seeing or reading about characters I love acting silly.

2b1

This week’s Awesome Fanfic Monday is dedicated to Frodo’s Mistake by Michicko of Fanfiction.net. This parody has everything an LotR fangirl could want. There is hilarious homoeroticism between Frodo and Sam, Legolas is acting like the sassiest of sassy-pants and just CAN’T EVEN, and Merry and Pippin are embracing their gangster side.

Awesome Fanfic Monday: The Very Secret LotR Diaries

Hello, my kiddies, and welcome to another edition of Awesome Fanfic Monday!

Today I want to do a throwback. I have been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and couldn’t help but reminisce on one of my favorite pieces of fanfic from back when I was a wee little teenage fangirl, just discovering what the Internet was. I was (still am) a huge Lord of the Rings fangirl. There is an infamous piece of fanfiction tied to this fandom, not that different from the Harry Potter fic ‘My Immortal’ that is ‘The Very Secret Diaries‘ series by Cassandra Claire. This series of fanfiction is of the parodic manner and is absolutely delightful.

The whole concept of this series is that it shows the diary of each character from The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s full of sass, innuendo, and most importantly displays Legolas for the sassy diva he truly is.
