One Last Time, The One Last Party

One Last Party 2015

“All’s well that ends better.”

TheOneRing.net hosted the last Oscar party for fans of the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies this past weekend at the American Legion in Hollywood.  Traditionally, the fan parties took place during Oscar night so we can all gather and watch the award show together. This year, the party took place the night before the show on Saturday and I think it is because The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies didn’t get nominated for any categories this year. Boo-urns, Academy Awards!

Either way, it didn’t stop the fans from gathering to appreciate our fandom for one night together in fancy dresses and dwarf gear.

Wrapping It Up in 2014: Year in Review

2014yearinreview

Defective Geeks has survived (kind of, sort of?) another year of random geek shenanigans and once again, I wanted to highlight some of our accomplishments. This year was a bit more mellow than 2013 was but we got to experiment with bringing new content to the website with the help of friends. I would like to thank everyone who has stopped by to read a blog, watch a video or simply stumbled upon a photo on a post that they really liked (I see those tweets go out!).

For the people who have always supported us, especially those who remind us all the time that we are loved… THANK YOU!

Now let’s get on with our year in review.

THE HOBBIT, Midnight Screening 2012

When the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy were released, my friends and I religiously went to the midnight screening at the Irvine Spectrum. Now that The Hobbit trilogy has come upon us, we are continuing this grand tradition as we travel to Middle Earth for the next three years again!

Check out our photos from the line party below.

Journey to The Hobbit: Let’s All Visit New Zealand

A four minute exclusive video from Air New Zealand on making of Middle Earth. To Lord of the Rings movie fans, New Zealand is the ultimate mecca. Not only does it look like a beautiful country but you can now visit the real Shire movie set that they had decided to not tear down after production.

My definite goal is to visit New Zealand within the next couple of years and get the full on Hobbit, Elves, Dwarves, etc. experience. Doesn’t the green scenery in this video just make your inner nature lover drool profusely? So magical and peaceful!
