Sweet Streets LA 2011: Chubby Bunny x SPANK! Fashion Collaboration

Sweet Streets LA is one of my favorite annual art show – it’s always fun and always colorful. As usual, Hi Hi Caro and Bubble Punch put the entire event together and this year it was held in downtown Culver City at the WWA Gallery. This gallery proved too small for the event and there was a long line of attendees that waited to get in throughout the night. People stayed even when it rained!

Michelle Nguyen of Chubby Bunny and Tavuchi from SPANK! also debuted their fashion collaboration with a fashion show and a pop up store that sold all sorts of super-cute accessories and clothing. SPANK! is a popular clothing line in Harajuku, Japan which embraces the ‘kawaii’ nature of Harajuku fashion.

The fashion show was a lot of fun with upbeat music and energetic models wearing Chubby Bunny and SPANK! accessories and clothing. I ended up buying two new bows to add to my “Chubby Bunny Collection.” You can buy these items from Chubby Bunny at her website!

This year, Sailor Mizz attended the event with me and we captured the event on video, including all of the fashion how! Hope you enjoy what I put together below.

Perfectasy: Cowboys and Rainbows

Thursday, August 18, 2011– Onch Movement had its second Perfectasy party at Royal-T Cafe: Cowboys and Rainbows. Yes, there were cowboys and there were rainbows to behold. The night was full of fashionable people as Petro Zilla rolled in her with her unique clothing line. I’m digging the whole prairie/cowboy style. Definitely a high-fashion night  but the atmosphere was still full of cowboy swagger.

OnchMovement, Cowboys & Rainbows

No unicorns were spotted this time around, but tall models and gorgeous models walked around as a living rainbow. Seriously, they were super tall! I almost wanted to believe they were wearing stilts to walk around in. Nope. Just super long legs. The cowboys were hot as all cowboys should be and the mermaid came back, riding a wheel barrow. I spent some time chatting with some cute girls because I am pimp like that. Ha! Just kidding but I did get to know my fellow “Secret Filipina” and rising star, Chrissa Villanueva and owner/creator of Happy Hoodie Friends, Kayla Tange. Super Comic Girl, Nicole Sixx was also in attendance. Check these ladies out and give them some love and support for their work.

I also munched on some “fancy” ding-dongs. Check out the photos.

OnchMovement’s Perfectasy, Land of Awesome Jewelry, Unicorns and Mermaids

Thursday, August 4— Onch launches Perfectasy, a one month long pop up shop that features his jewelry and other accessories at Royal-T Cafe in Culver City. Colorful pretzels, Andy Warhol inspired bananas, and bacon necklaces are among many of the unique items you will find at Perfectasy, all part of the OnchMovement fashion line. They’re super cute. As in, way super, super cute.

Meat just got fancier.

Onch is one of those people who you can not avoid in Los Angeles if you run with the more colorful crowd out here. He is famed for his spot during the first season of Paris’s New BFF but to me, he is our Onchie! Always so sincerely happy to greet people– friends and strangers alike– with a big infectious smile on his face.

There is never a dull moment when you know my artistic friends. Perfectasy was no exception. Onch went all out and even got a real life unicorn inside Royal-T’s shop space and a mermaid inside one of the glass display cases. To match Onch’s sweet personality tons and tons of free candy covered a long table for people to eat and get their sugar high on.
