SDCC 2017: Scenes Around the Con, Part 2

My first full day at San Diego Comic-con this year was action packed, as to be expected. We woke up early in the hopes of lining up for the Westworld experience only to find out that the line had been already cut off. Too crazy!

I also went to the DC Icons: Blockbuster YA Authors Meet Iconic DC Superheroes panel with Marie Lu, Leigh Bardugo and Matt de la Peña. The three writers had a great hour talking about their upcoming DC books, with Bardugo’s Wonder Woman: Warbringer novel coming out first on August 29.

Teen Wolf VIP Fan Event & DVD Release Party

Teen Wolf VIP Fan Party!

I was lucky enough to get an invite to the Teen Wolf VIP Fan Party, an intimate event for fans to celebrate the release of Season 3, part 1 on DVD. The event started with a panel with show creator, Jeff Davis, and cast members including Holland Roden (Lydia),  Charlie and Max Carver (The Alpha Twins), Melissa Ponzio (Melissa), Linden Ashby (Deputy Stilinski) and Haley Webb (Jennifer) and moderated by ET! Online’s Jarrett Weiselman. Afterwards, we dropped by the VIP party and took photos and interviewed Melissa — see below for the video!

Comikaze Expo 2013 – Come See Us!

ComikazeExpo2013-PodcastPanel

Comikaze Expo is already on the horizons — on November 1st to the 3rd to be exact! Of course, we will be present, running around, taking photos and filming our video interviews. We will be on the floor and in and out of panels for most of it. If you see us, make sure to ask for a Defective Geeks sticker!

You will probably spot us at panels like All Shapes and Sizes hosted by Leah Cevoli but on the last day of the convention, on Sunday at 5pm, you can see yours truly (the Space Pirate Queen!) seated at a panel called ‘So You Wanna Start a Podcast‘ in Room 308AB with all the greats — Crix Lee and Lawrence Young of Gecken, Vito Lapiccola of Comics on Comics, Chris Gore and Wes Calimer of Geek Hero and 1337 Lounge Live.

Should be a fun and good panel, so please come by and show some love!

See you at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo!

SDCC 2013: All Shapes and Sizes

SCC 2013: All Shapes and Sizes

I was so happy when I found out the All Shapes and Sizes panel was coming to Comic Con. The first time the panel was conducted was at Wondercon and it was such an amazing experience. Leah Cevoli pulled a Nick Fury and assembled a wonderful group of women to discuss the issues of body image in the media and how it affects women in every day life. It was incredible to see this issue discussed in a public forum and I could not have been happier that the discussion was heading to Comic Con.

One of the great things about this panel is the variety of panelists. Just like the title of the discussion, the women on the panel are of all shapes and sizes and cover multiple facets of this issue because of their different roles in the entertainment industry and the geek community.

Ep. 106 Leah Cevoli

ep106leahcevoli

This weekend at Wondercon, actress and all around lady-of-all-trades, Leah Cevoli is moderating a panel called All Shapes and Sizes Welcome, discussing the female body image and women’s issues in the industry. The Lady Geeks also open up about their own personal experiences from struggling with weight gain to skinny-shaming to finding self-love. We also get into discussions about cats (again), our dream bubble-baths, Jesus and talking cheeseburgers. If you’ll be at Wondercon, we hope to see you at Leah’s panel on Saturday!
