Costume Designers Guild at SDCC 2014

Yes folks, the San Diego Comic Con posts are still forthcoming!

We just HAD to write about one of the best afternoon events we were privileged to attend at SDCC: The CDG (Costume Designers Guild) Mixer! On Friday, July 25th, the CDG local 892 rolled out the red carpet to their members and panelists to celebrate all things costuming at the Marriot Marquis.  The Costume Designers Guild (I.A.T.S.E. Local 892) is the labor union representing costume designers, assistant costume designers and illustrators in film and television.

For those not in the know, this year marked the CDG’s ninth consecutive year participating at SDCC, by offering a slew of panels on costuming and the industry, as well as sponsoring their very own Masquerade prizes and trophy!. This year’s winners were “Giant Monsters All Out Attack,” by Lisa Truong, Lynleigh Sato, Wendy Colon, and Cindy Purchase.

The CDG mixer venue was gorgeous, with our own view of the bay and plenty of food to nosh on!

Another wonderful part of this mixer was the copious amounts of costumes on display on models from various movies! We tried very hard not to feel every costume and freak out their wearers, haha. Alright, enough chit chat. On to the photos!

SDCC 2014: Sleepy Hollow Cast & Comic-con Experience

SDCC 2014: Sleepy Hollow

That is basically how I felt after San Diego Comic-con this year — decapitated and dead.

I got lucky and arrived at the Sleepy Hollow Virtual Reality Experience at the Petco Interactive Zone when the cast & crew arrived to get interviewed and their photos taken. Talked about perfect timing as I waved my fancy press badge around and didn’t have to line up to get my head chopped off by the Headless Horseman! I have become a big fan of the show so this was a big treat for me. The Oculus Rift VR was pretty popular this year and the Sleepy Hollow version was c-r-e-e-p-y. I admit. I got a little nervous. You can check out a video about it on the Fox website right now.

Check out the photos of the creators and cast of the shows that I managed to snap. Includes Orlando Jones, Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie and Lyndie Greenwood.

SDCC 2014: Power Rangers Super Megaforce

We were invited again to visit the Power Rangers media suite this year at the San Diego Comic-Con — a haven for fans during the midst of convention madness. The room was once again full of amazing toys (that we wished we had when we were growing up… let’s be honest), including the limited edition Green Ranger Legacy Dragon Dagger. The new Nintendo 3DS game was also featured which we got to play around with for a few minutes. The game will be available later this year in October. There are so many cool things in this year’s suite, and I kind of wished I could own one of the Power Rangers backpacks that were on display.

Check out all our photos below but don’t forget to watch the video above to see our interview with the current cast of Power Rangers Super Megaforce!

Ep. 194 Wormy Cats

Podcast2013-web-image

The Lady Geeks sit down to talk more about post-Comic-con thoughts, upcoming and current television shows (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D spoilers, by the way) and also, cat health problems because the conversation just tends to devolve into that direction especially during hot summer nights.

Ep. 193 Fangirl Tears and Giant Raccoons

Podcast2013-web-image

In this episode the girls discuss all the recent movie trailers including The Hobbit, Tusk, and most importantly 50 Shades of Grey (don’t deny it, you’re excited too). Then SPQ and Gizzy B discuss the emotional fangirl tears they experienced in Hall H at SDCC during the Marvel panel. Also, raccoons the size of grizzly bears? What??
