One Last Time, The One Last Party

One Last Party 2015

“All’s well that ends better.”

TheOneRing.net hosted the last Oscar party for fans of the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies this past weekend at the American Legion in Hollywood.  Traditionally, the fan parties took place during Oscar night so we can all gather and watch the award show together. This year, the party took place the night before the show on Saturday and I think it is because The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies didn’t get nominated for any categories this year. Boo-urns, Academy Awards!

Either way, it didn’t stop the fans from gathering to appreciate our fandom for one night together in fancy dresses and dwarf gear.

Ruin and Rising, Book Release Party

Ruin and Rising @ The Last Bookstore Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy ends with Ruin and Rising and I got to go to the book launch party at The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles to celebrate with the author and her fans. This is also my first time at The Last Bookstore and it is a glorious store. Non-commercial bookstores with personality is super rare these days and I love that this place exist. It was a lot of fun to be there with the YA crowd and fellow Grisha fans.

Marie Lu’s Champion, Book Yum!

champion.indd

The cover for Marie Lu’s CHAMPION, the third book in the Legend series is absolutely gorgeous. I’m a little late since this book cover was revealed awhile ago but it looks too delicious to not share. Champion will wrap up the story of Day and June and I am pretty excited to see how everything — as they say — goes down.

Check out the image for the trilogy box set on the author’s Tumblr.

Come out to The Grove next Wednesday, June 26 at the Barnes and Nobles store to see Marie at a panel with, well, a bunch of other amazing people!

INTERVIEW: Marie Lu’s ‘PRODIGY’

Last year, Marie Lu’s first young adult novel, LEGEND, blew us all away and in January 2013, the second installment in Day and June’s dystopian adventure is coming: PRODIGY. The cover of the new book was revealed a couple of weeks ago as well as an excerpt from the first chapter, which you can read over at www.legendtheseries.com. Be warned! Just like in LEGEND, the first chapter of PRODIGY will leave you hanging!

Marie was kind enough to do a quick interview with us to let us know what we can look forward to in the second book.

— — —

Is it as exciting to see the finished product for PRODIGY as it was with LEGEND?

MARIE LU: YES! Seeing PRODIGY come together is actually exciting in a completely different way. I’ve written plenty of manuscripts before (that never made it), but this is the very first book I’ve written that’s a sequel to something. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever written, so I’m really excited and anxious to hear what readers think!
